Early life and education
Deepinder Goyal was born in Muktsar, Punjab, India. He completed his schooling at DAV College in Chandigarh before pursuing higher education at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where he earned an integrated master’s degree in Mathematics and Computing in 2005. Career
After graduating, Goyal began his professional journey as a senior associate consultant at Bain & Company in 2006. It was during his time at Bain that he identified a gap in the market for food ordering services. Zomato quickly evolved from a restaurant listing site to a comprehensive platform offering food delivery services. The company underwent significant growth through strategic acquisitions and expansions, including entering international markets such as the United States, Australia, and several countries in Europe and Asia. Notably, Goyal led Zomato’s IPO in July 2021, which was oversubscribed 35 times and valued the company at over $8 billion.
Personal life
Deepinder Goyal is married to Kanchan Joshi, a mathematics professor. The couple has a daughter named Saira Goyal. Goyal’s personal life reflects a balance between family commitments and his demanding career as an entrepreneur.
In February 2024, Goyal entered into a second marriage with Grecia Muñoz. Details about Grecia’s background are limited, but this new chapter in Goyal’s life has attracted media interest given his prominent status as a business leader.
