Chaithra Rai was born in Coorg, Karnataka, to B.D. Vasu Rai and Gulabi Rai. She pursued a Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) as part of her formal education. Currently, she lives with her husband, Prasanna Shetty, an engineer, in Mangalore, Karnataka. She also has one younger brother.
Career
Chaithra made her debut in 2009 with the Kannada television series Kusumanjali, where she played a supporting role. This marked the beginning of her career in the Kannada television industry. Following this, she appeared in Bombeyatavayya and Radha Kalyana, which became a breakthrough role for her, earning her the Zee Kutumba Award for Best Preyasi.
Over the years, she took on a variety of roles in Kannada television serials, including Gejje Pooje, Bannada Buguri, Pournami, Nagamani, and Yuggadi. Her performances were highly appreciated by both audiences and critics.
In 2013, Chaithra ventured into Telugu television with Ashta Chamma on Star Maa, a show that gave her significant recognition in the Telugu-speaking audience.
