Early life and education
Saurabh’s father, Ravikant Tripathi, is a retired professor. Saurabh completed his early education in Orai and Kanpur, attending various schools, including Saraswati Shishu Mandir and Jugal Kishore Saraswati Vidya Mandir. He pursued his higher education at Dayanand Vedic College (DVC) in Orai, where he graduated with a degree in Hindi literature.
Dwivedi later attended Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi, where he earned a master’s degree in mass communication. He also pursued an M.Phil but did not complete his PhD. During his time at JNU, Dwivedi developed a passion for journalism, inspired by the encouragement of one of his professors. Following this, he completed a postgraduate diploma in mass communication from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC).
Career
Dwivedi began his journalism career with NavBharat Times as an intern in 2007. He later worked with several major media outlets, including Star News, Live India, Dainik Bhaskar, and Aaj Tak. His career took a significant turn in 2013 when he joined the India Today Group, where he soon became a key figure.
In 2016, Dwivedi launched The Lallantop, a digital Hindi news platform that covers a wide range of topics, including politics, current affairs, and entertainment. He serves as the editor-in-chief of The Lallantop and anchors several popular shows on the platform, such as The Lallantop Show, Netanagri, and Duniyadaari. Under his leadership, the platform has amassed over 40 million subscribers on YouTube, making it one of India’s most popular digital news sources.
Dwivedi’s interview show Guest in Newsroom has also gained popularity for its candid and relatable format. Additionally, he is known for his extensive coverage of elections across India and his series Jamghat, which features exclusive political interviews.
Apart from his work in journalism, Dwivedi is a frequent speaker at prestigious institutions, including IIMs, IITs, and international conferences such as the Harvard India Conference. He has also spoken at several editions of the Jaipur Literature Festival and has delivered TEDx talks.
Personal life
Saurabh Dwivedi is married to Gunjan Dwivedi, and they have two children, a son and a daughter named Gaura. The family resides in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Despite his busy schedule, Dwivedi maintains a low profile on social media regarding his personal life.
